Guidelines for a Successful Black/Green Belt Project

 

The following guidelines should be used to help ensure a successful black/green belt project is chosen.

  • The proposed project should be connected to business plan of your organization.
  • The project is important to the leadership of your organization for one or more of the following reasons:
    • Customers are experiencing problems with products or services.
    • Current cost or quality does not meet the customer and business requirements. Hence, Lean Sigma black belts are the backbone of lean six sigma implementation. 
    • There is a need to increase sales by exceeding current customer expectations and improving business practices
  • The solution unknown.
  • Key measure(s) of success for the project have been identified.
  • Baseline data for the measure available and goals for the measure have been identified.
  • The project can be reasonably completed in less than six/three months.
  • The processes, products or organizations where the anticipated change will be made are within the control or influence of the champion.
